Privacy Policy — Crack the Code

This Privacy Policy describes how the Crack the Code mobile app ("the app", "we", "our") handles your information. We've kept it short and in plain English. If you have any questions, contact us at contactus@omnicode.us.

1. Information We Collect

When you use the app, we collect only the data needed to run it:

Account information — When you sign up with email and password, or with Google sign-in, we collect:

Your email address
Your display name
A securely-hashed password (only if you sign up with email; never stored as plain text)

Game data — As you play, we save:

Your game history (date played, attempts, time, win/give-up outcome, the secret code for that game)
Your leaderboard entry (your best score)
Your multiplayer room activity while a game is in progress (player name, current attempt count, win/give-up status)

Device preferences — Your sound on/off setting is saved locally on your device only and is never sent to our servers.

2. Information We DO NOT Collect

We do not collect:

Your physical location
Your contacts, photos, microphone, or camera
Health data or biometric data
Advertising identifiers
Browsing history outside the app
Any tracking data used for advertising

We do not have any third-party advertising networks or analytics SDKs in the app.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to:

Authenticate you when you log in
Save and display your game history
Show you on the global leaderboard (other players see your display name and score)
Run multiplayer games — other players in your room see your display name and live game progress

4. Who We Share Information With

We share your information with one third-party service:

Firebase (a Google service) — Firebase hosts our authentication, database, and real-time multiplayer infrastructure. Firebase processes the data described in Section 1 strictly on our behalf. Firebase's own privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy.

If you sign in with Google, your Google account information (name, email, profile photo URL) is shared with us by Google as part of the sign-in flow.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your information to anyone.

5. Children's Privacy

Crack the Code is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will delete it promptly. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us information, contact us at contactus@omnicode.us.

6. Data Retention

Account data and game history are kept until you delete your account.
Multiplayer room data is automatically deleted when the room ends (typically within minutes of the last player leaving).
Leaderboard entries persist as long as the account exists.

7. Your Rights

You can:

View your data by playing the app and visiting Game History and Leaderboard.
Request deletion of your account and data by emailing contactus@omnicode.us. We'll delete your account and all associated game records within 30 days.
Reset your password at any time via the "Forgot password" link on the login screen.

If you are in the EU/UK, you also have the rights granted under GDPR including the right to access, correct, or port your personal data. Email us to exercise those rights.

8. Security

We protect your information by:

Using Firebase Authentication, which hashes passwords with industry-standard algorithms
Restricting database access via Firebase Security Rules — only you can read or modify your own game history
Transmitting all data over HTTPS

No system is 100% secure. We will notify users via the email on file if we ever discover a security breach affecting their account data.

9. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will be announced inside the app. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
